This is the amazing journey of our two miracles. John Craig was born on November 30, 2005 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 12 inches long. John is a true miracle and an inspiration to all that meet him! Hope Amanda, our perfect little girl, is currently recovering from two brain surgeries to remove a 6cm mass from the center of her brain. Hope represents everything good in this world and she too is an inspiration to all.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Tidbits!

What's new with the big guy?

  1. John is pulling to stand on everything....and falling and getting hurt in the process.

  2. We will be starting with a new OT next week. She works at Scottsdale Fiesta where John goes for ST. We are really excited about this!

  3. John ate a Ritz cracker tonight!!!

  4. Naps are almost a thing of the past:( I actually called his pedi. on Monday and she said that at his age he needs 11-13 hours of sleep.........and he sleeps 12 at night!!!

  5. We are gearing up for our 1st first family vacation to the beach and to Disneyland!

Holy Smokes Part II

In my defense, I was sitting right there (in the playroom) when he crawled around the corner. I ran to get the camera because I thought he was going into the laundry room to play in the cat's water bowl....to my surprise, he had escaped!

Not Your Typical Saturday

Our morning started off very early. John has NOT been napping therefore he goes to bed between 5:30-6:00pm. He will usually sleep until about 7:00am but this morning he was up bright and early (5:45am).....MUCH to early for my liking (that's why Daddy got up with him....thanks Jamie!)

Anyhow, our morning progressed as usual until around 9:30am when we called 911!!! I was in the other room getting ready (John and I were meeting some friends at the park) when I heard a God awful cry. I ran into the playroom to find John laying face down crying hysterically. I picked him up and his entire body was limp. Frantically, I screamed for Jamie who was outside (staining our new garage doors) he came running in and took John from me so I could call 911. By this point John's lips were turning blue. He finally (it seemed like forever) took a deep breath and seemed to be OK. The fire department arrived in about 4 minutes. They checked all his vitals and everything looked good. We opted out of taking an ambulance ride down to PCH because at this point he was completely back to himself....plus, he didn't need to be exposed to all the germs in the ER waiting room.

We think what had happened is he climbed onto the red and blue chair (which were in the middle of the room) and either fell off backwards or fell forward and knocked the wind out of himself. That's our only guess.

So, needless to say, I was freaking out. I know they tell you to stay calm but how in the world can you?

He has been fine all day and we were still able to make it to the park. He even slept for an hour... IN THE SWING:)

Rock-n-Roll

This time tomorrow Mommy will have run her first half marathon.....yikes!
One of my best friend's (Shannon) and I will be running the PF Chang's Rock-N-Roll Half Marathon on Sunday morning. We are running in honor of my little guy and our best friend's (Shernaz) fiance who is battling Stage IV Non-Hodgkin lymphoma....BUT, as of last week...HE IS IN REMISSION. Our God is so good!

I am all set for tomorrow....iPod and my new shirt thanks to Joe and Shelly.

Here's the front.

And, here's the back!

John and Trevor truly are an inspiration! They are the two strongest people I know and when I get tired tomorrow (around the 10th mile) my mind will be on the two of them and all the struggles and pain they went through! They NEVER GAVE UP and neither will I.

On another note, please visit this blog to offer prayers and support for Nate, Tricia, and Gwyneth. This blog is written by Nate. His wife Tricia has Cystic Fibrosis and was preparing for a double lung transplant until she discovered she was pregnant. She just gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Gwyneth. Like me, she was only 24 weeks pregnant. I am truly humbled by their story and their faith.....I KNOW you will be too!

We LOVE...

...our wagon!

John absolutely loves going on walks in his wagon (even if it means walking up and down the hallway, around the kitchen, and back down the hallway again and again and again.) We've been trying to make it part of our daily routine! And, yes it was a little chilly/cloudy out today so the hat was a MUST:)

I forgot to update about our eye appointment last Thursday....don't worry, no news is good news! The Dr. was impressed, he sees improvement, so....NO glasses or surgery (at least for now!) We go back in May for a follow up.

Why, Oh Why!

You think I would know better by now....so, why did I mention John's lack of vomit and WHY did I add blueberries to his BD mix? It's NOT a flattering color on my carpet...tee hee.

Seriously though, he has only vomited a few times....not that big a deal. It could be worse!

At any rate, he's still doing fabulous and of course, cute as ever!!!

2008

We are off to a GREAT start...
John has only vomited 1 time in the past 4 days, he is back on track with his naps, and he has learned a new trick (video of it later.)
We had a wonderful New Year's Eve with our friends and John rang in the New Year with Grams and Grandpa at their 2nd annual New Year's Eve Bash!
Here are a few pictures of John on the first day of 2008!

Grams and Grandpa took him to the park and as you can see, he had a blast!

Here's John recovering from his New Year's hangover:)

And, look at this ladies man...sound asleep yet still picking up the chicks.

Here's to a happy, healthy New Year!
