This is the amazing journey of our two miracles. John Craig was born on November 30, 2005 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 12 inches long. John is a true miracle and an inspiration to all that meet him! Hope Amanda, our perfect little girl, is currently recovering from two brain surgeries to remove a 6cm mass from the center of her brain. Hope represents everything good in this world and she too is an inspiration to all.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

My Brown Eyed Boy

I thought for sure John would have blue eyes....
Jamie's entire family (both parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc.) have the most gorgeous crystal blue eyes and my family, minus myself and my parents (we have hazel) and my Grandma (she is the ONLY one with brown eyes), have blue eyes too.
What a great gift Grandma gave John.......beautiful brown eyes!

Stinky Face!

Sneak peak (Part II)
I thought I should probably try the entire outfit on before we head up to Flagstaff in the morning for Blayke's Halloween/B-day party!
Seriously, could he be any cuter?

OK....now I am off to Old Navy in hopes of finding a black onesie to go underneath the costume. Wish me luck!

Farm Animals

For the past two weeks Grams has been working with John on farm animals.

As you can see....his flash cards taste pretty yummy!

He absolutely loves his puzzle and tries very hard to get the pieces back into place.

And, here he is just chillin in his new chair(s) that we got him for his birthday......yes, a little early (and a little pricey) but, a great investment! Thanks Grams!

Big Girls Don't Cry!

What a wonderful feeling it is to walk away from a Dr.'s appointment with a HUGE smile on my face..........as opposed to balling my eyes out:(

Today we had an appointment with the pediatric surgeon to discuss/evaluate John's scissoring (toes crossing over each other) and his hips. They took a couple of X-rays of his hips........AND, they are PERFECT...developing just as they should!!!!!!!!!! We also discussed the possibility of Botox to loosen his inner leg muscles.....sorry, I can't remember all of the medical terms! Anyhow, The Dr refereed us to another Dr who specializes in Botox. So, that will be our next step.

Ohhhhh.....God is Good!

Pictures tomorrow.....I promise!

911

It's official......John placed his first crank call to 911 today!

He was talking to Grams on the phone this morning (translation...pushing buttons in Grams ear) when all of a sudden I heard a strange women's voice.....yep, it was the 911 operator!

I guess it's time I find a new "toy" to entertain the little man:)

I Love You Stinky Face!

When John was in the NICU, I read to him EVERY day and EVERY night......even on Saturday night date night, Grams or Grammy would go down to the NICU after shift change and read him a few stories, say his prayers, and tuck him into his isolette:)

My favorite book on his little bookshelf was, I Love You Stinky Face (if you haven't read it before...it's a MUST read.) So, when I ran across a skunk costume, I HAD to buy it:)

Here is a sneak peak of our very own Stinky Face! The cutest skunk I've ever seen!!!

Ahoy!

Well, after a VERY long eye appointment on Tuesday.......the doc suggested we patch John's right eye....2 hours a day! His left eye is still crossing in a little bit however, nothing compared to last year prior to his surgery.

Anyhow, he dilated his eyes to check if he was farsighted (or nearsighted..I can't remember which one.) I guess if you are severely farsighted, the surgery will not correct the problem....Dad, does that sound right? Well, it turns out that John is mildly farsighted so, we may try glasses in a few months or just go in for a second surgery (1 muscle this time opposed to 3 last time.)

So.....we play the waiting game. The story of our lives:)

Relax!

We were finally able to relax a little bit this weekend...........no big plans were made so, we took advantage of it!

Daddy and John enjoyed spending a lazy Saturday afternoon watching 2 fantastic games! Not only did ASU beat Washington State but, the D-backs swept the series. So long Cubbies!!!

And, FALL IS FINALLY HERE.....No need to cool off in the freezer anymore:)

Now, we are off to bring my Grandma Dr. Pepper and chocolate (her favorite food) for her 94th Birthday!

Booking up!

Mr. Popular!

I spent a good amount of my day scheduling ALL of John's appointments (and some fun play dates.) It seems like they all creep up at the same time......so, here goes:

Oct. 9 - Ophthalmologist...to determine if he'll need a second eye surgery. If so, we'll schedule it before his birthday........no need to be hanging around the hospital during RSV season!

Oct. 11 - Honorary family at Fountain Hill's Jail & Bail....this is one of March of Dimes biggest fundraisers.

Oct. 18 - Pumpkin Patch!

Oct. 24 - Orthopedic surgeon...leg evaluation and x-rays.

Nov. - Neurology, Pediatrician (2 year check up and shots), and.....first dose of synagis!

As you can see, John is one busy little man! AND, on top of all of that, we'll be celebrating someones 2nd birthday!

Quickie!

Quick update on our little man....

  • He had his flu shot today and didn't even flinch.........I guess a tiny little shot is nothing compared to everything he's been through.
  • Today's weight is, 31 pounds! The nurse looked at me and said, does that sound right? Ummmm, NO! So, we weighed him again and he weighs 23 pounds....now, that's more realistic!
